ChemSkills represents a major network for skills in the industry (formerly known as CITO – Chemical Industries Training Organisation). Previously administered by the Chemical Industries Association (CIA) it now forms part of Cogent, the Sector Skills Council’s national network.

Within the sub-region, Humber Chemical Focus Ltd (HCF) administer and host the regular meetings. The ChemSkills membership is representative of the major players in the industry within the sub-region. Meetings are currently held quarterly, with member companies represented by those responsible for skills development within their organisations, along with Cogent and HCF personnel.

The group bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table, discussing and sharing best practice in the area of skills.

ChemSkills is proposing to run collaborative training initiatives, hosting courses where common needs exist, thereby reducing costs with combined buying power and potential funding from the brokerage, ensuring the training is held locally reducing employee time away from the workplace, as well as delegates benefiting from industry specific experiences.
