home page The Humber region

The region is a major exporter of chemical products as well as a major strategic artery for the UK. The chemical industry based around the Humber river forms part of a wider chemical cluster embracing the Yorkshire & Humber region, comprising over 500 enterprises with an output representing some 10% of the UK’s chemicals production.

The region is home to many global and nationally recognised names including Air Products, BP, BOC, Ciba, Conoco Phillips, Corus, Cray Valley, Croda, Huntsman, Knauf, Nippon Gohsei, Novartis, Lenzing Fibers, Total and Yule Catto making the region one of Europe's busiest chemical clusters.

It has a growing chemical base with investment in new build, expansion and maintenance exceeding £1 Billion in the last 4 years. Further down-stream consumer orientated companies whose products rely on a close relationship with the industry include Smith & Nephew, Reckitts-Benckiser and Kimberley Clark.

The Humber region supports a wide diversity of manufacturing enterprises embracing pigments & colours, agrochemicals, fine chemicals, paint & coatings, surface treatment, pharmaceutical intermediates & speciality chemicals, inorganic and organic commodities.
