World Trade Centre business club signs up number one

The Humber region is becoming an increasingly attractive place to do business says the first member of World Trade Centre Hull & Humber's business club.

After joining the scheme, Ken Sturdy, managing director of IT@Spectrum, said:"We are taking advantage of the conference and meeting facilities for team strategy meetings. It's good to get people out of their normal everyday environment if you want to stimulate creative thinking.

"I can honestly say that it's the best venue we've ever come across in the Humber region."

Regional businesses get an insight into World Trade Centre

WTC- Introductory Sessions

More than 60 regional business people visited World Trade Centre Hull & Humber on 22 July to find out more about the facilities and services on offer. They heard from partners, UK Trade and Investment, the University of Hull, Hull & Humber Chamber of Commerce and Language is Everything on how it will enable local and UK-based companies to compete more effectively internationally.

World Trade Centre Hull & Humber lifts the language barrier

Carolyn Burgess

The chief executive of an East Yorkshire firm that provides translation and interpreting services is to be based at World Trade Centre Hull & Humber.

Carolyn Burgess, of Language is Everything, will mainly work from the World Trade Centre's offices at One Humber Quays, Hull, while her independent business, which has an annual turnover of £1.6m, continues to operate from Howden.

Inaugural Advisory Group meeting takes place at World Trade Centre

Sixteen business people who were selected in June as key advisers to World Trade Centre Hull and Humber have held their inaugural meeting. The Advisory Group is set to play a crucial role in the centre's future by helping to enhance international trade development for the benefit of the local and regional economy.

Advisory member Stephen Martin, chief executive of Scunthorpe construction, logistics and property development group, Clugston, said World Trade Centre Hull & Humber would further unite the business communities on both sides of the Humber.

He said: "When trying to promote the region, a fragmented approach does not work. Bringing everyone together to encourage integration is what is about."
